Middle School Curriculum

Calvin Christian Middle School is designed to provide a smooth transition from the elementary school years to the secondary school years.

Middle school students are going through a time of incredible changes.  Intellectually, they are maturing in their thinking as they move from concrete to more abstract reasoning.  Physically, they are growing and developing in ways that can, at times, make them uncomfortable and awkward.  Socially and emotionally, they are developing an identity of their own, while also struggling with how to relate to peers.  Spiritually, they are beginning to make faith decisions for themselves and relate their faith to more real life experiences.

Education for students at this critical transitional stage must be tailored to their developmental needs–not merely an extension of elementary school, nor a “junior” high school.  It must be a program for students “in the middle.”

Following are the curriculum opportunities that arise from this vision for middle school education.
