A Severe Mercy by Sheldon Vanaukan. It is a wonderfully moving story which points to the source of all true love.
Favorite scripture verse:
Hebrews 10:23: “ Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” I love the picture of holding unswervingly onto our hope. God has proved faithful in each circumstance of my life.
Favorite thing about working at CCS:
I have opportunity to watch students grow throughout all their years at Calvin. It is such a blessing to see them develop their God-given gifts and share the beauty of creation together. Creativity comes in all shapes and sizes!
Favorite learning activity:
I share the students’ excitement about working with clay. It’s a highlight at any age.
Favorite student quote:
There have been so many throughout past 16 years! I love having students wave into my window or peek into my door and exclaim that they just can’t wait until art class!
Fun or fascinating facts:
I taught in a public school for 14 years and have now been at CCS in a part-time role for 16 years. Wow, I’m old.
My own children, now college-aged, were part of the Calvin community through 8th grade. I really enjoyed having the privilege of teaching their peers and consider these close friends as part of our extended family!
