TEACHING FOR TRANSFORMATION — Throughout its history, Calvin Christian’s central focus has been the integration of faith and learning in our educational program. In 2014 we embarked on an initiative that is intended to further develop that strength. Over the next three years, CCS will implement the “Teaching for Transformation” (TfT) curriculum planning model. (…more.)

CHALLENGE PROGRAM — We believe that each student should have the opportunity and support to thrive in the classroom. At the K-8 campuses of Calvin Christian, the Challenge Program helps meet the learning needs of students who are able to benefit from opportunities that extend beyond the regular curriculum. (…more.)
ATHLETICS — At Calvin Christian we view physical fitness as an important aspect of the growth of the whole child. Athletics provides an opportunity for students to develop both fine and large motor skills as well as sport-specific skills and fitness. The focus of our athletic program is to encourage this growth and development in an environment that is God-centered. Our student-athletes will learn skills for their sport as well as how to be a good teammate. They will learn to be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. Above all, they will learn to glorify God through their play. Calvin Christian plays in the Southside Youth League with several other private schools and, depending on student interest, fields teams in soccer, volleyball, and basketball.
PERFORMING ARTS — The performing arts are a vital part of the program at Calvin Christian. Our students in kindergarten, 2nd, 4th, and 6th grades perform a memorized piece of literature for an audience in the spring of the year for Creative Expressions Night. Students in grades 1, 3, and 5 perform a musical each year. An annual highlight is the middle school play. Students in 7th and 8th grade may join the cast as they perform a play or musical to share with the community. Recent middle school offerings have included You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and The Wizard of Oz.
MIDDLE SCHOOL LEARNING TRIPS — Middle school students go on overnight learning trips annually. In the spring of the year, our 8th grade students spend four days and three nights in Chicago, where they visit such places as the Field Museum, Willis Tower, Navy Pier, Illinois Holocaust Museum, and the Art Institute of Chicago; take a boat ride on the Chicago River; and participate in a service project. In the fall, students in 6th and 7th grade spend three days and two nights at Luther Crest Environmental Camp. While there, 6th grade students learn about the environment from a biblical perspective as they interact with nature. The 7th grade students learn to work together as a team and focus on community building.
EXTENDED DAY — Before- and after-school care is available for CCS students. Before-school care begins at 7 a.m., and includes breakfast. The after-school program runs until 5:30 p.m. Parents may register their children for the program at any time, and use it as much or as little as needed.
BUS TRANSPORTATION — Families that live in the Edina and St. Louis Park school districts are provided bus transportation to and from school at no charge. In both cases the local school districts run the transportation programs.
